A Little Something Sweet's greatest hits + some updates
Hi, I’m Becca Rea-Tucker - baker, author, and reproductive rights advocate. Known online as @thesweetfeminist, I merge baking and advocacy to help break down abortion stigma. I like: snow, yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and paper towels. I dislike: fake clinics, raisins. I’m semi-famous for my brownie recipe.
A Little Something Sweet is a newsletter for people who have abortions, like talking about feelings, and crave dessert (yes, there’s a lot of overlap there!).
I’ve written about how evangelicals have abortions (even if they say they don’t)
Investigated weird anti-abortion merch on Etsy
And written about using baking to process grief
You’ll find recipes like my sweet & salty cinnamon whipped brown butter
And a guide for postpartum freezer meals
I share your anonymously submitted secrets (the shadowy things that we want to share but might be tempted to hide because of shame/fear/social obligation)
And sparkles (the little moments of joy/satisfaction/contentment that you wish you could bottle up)
Here’s a list of your favorite family traditions
And here’s my commentary on Juno
I grew my platform on Instagram by sharing these cakes. After years and years of posting, I’m currently making the transition to Bluesky.
I’m the author of BAKING BY FEEL (2022, Harper Wave) - a whimsical cookbook that pairs emotions with recipes, inviting readers to embrace whatever they’re feeling.
My second book, THE ABORTION COMPANION (October 2025, Running Press), is an an affirming guide to help people who have abortions feel less alone, offering comfort and support at every step of the journey.
I live in Austin, Texas with my husband Rhys, our angel doll baby one-year-old, and our very good/bad dog Otie.
