In the daylight: reading, tending to houseplants or pet care that I don't always find time for. I often find I kind of enjoy the "forced break" when my power and Wi-Fi are out... Time stretches out and lots of things feel possible once I wrap my head around not having TV/net.

After dark: eating my ice cream so it doesn't melt, taking a walk around my neighborhood in the quiet darkness, sex, early bedtime

If you have a gas stove you can light it with a long lighter and cook things on the stove top like stew or those chocolate oat no bake cookies (my family’s hurricane coping strategy)! I also like crafting (crochet! Cutting stuff out for future collages!) or doing things that feel very old fashioned/witchy just because of the candlelight vibes haha

Board games, crafting (assuming you have enough light and don’t need any tools which use electricity), reading (again, if there’s enough light).

I’m in South Austin and thankfully still have power right now. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Hope you’re able to stay warm and safe!

Reading books. If you have a book light, you can go all night. If your device is charged, put it on airplane mode and listen to podcasts or audiobooks.

Board games, D&D, coloring, knitting

Go through your camera roll and delete old screenshots or duplicate pictures haha. Also if you have wifi you can do the same for your email, cloud files or YouTube queue. You’re welcome.

board games, read, cook something if you have a gas stove (or a camp stove!) and eat by candlelight, go for a walk, tell stories

Puzzles! This is Merrick and I live in Denver but am currently stuck in my hometown of Dallas with my middle school bestie. I came to deliver her some chairs she bought when we visited me last summer and can’t leave! We’re going to hang up all the puzzles she made during the huge power outages last year. I’ll share a picture of the puzzle wall when we’re done. And hi everyone! I’m happy to be here:)

Telling stories or creating a story together by going back and forth sentence for sentence. Card games like Cribbage are always a great way to pass time.
